All change for new salesman Oliver
A Shropshire man with no previous experience in the motor industry has taken up an appointment with a 4x4 dealership.
Oliver Sharman, 30, of Whitchurch, has joined the expanding sales team of Shukers Land Rover, the county’s official Land Rover franchise.
And sales manager Tony Macera explained the strategy behind the appointment.
“We made a deliberate decision that from among more than 100 applicants, including a number with motor industry experience, Oliver had the skills we were seeking.
“In our view it isn’t always necessary to have previous experience in this industry. Oliver brings communications and people skills combined with an ability to sell himself and his product.
“We are confident his background will complement the experience and skills of our other sales specialists,” added Tony.
For Oliver, it is a complete career change. He has spent the last six years running his own mortgage advice business and likens many of the aspects to his new role.
“I have experience of finance, communications and sales and I was also very pro-active which I intend to be with Shukers Land Rover – a name that really attracted me,” he said.
He has a brother in car sales and has driven many Land Rovers in the past.
Oliver, who is married, gained an HND in business and finance at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff and also studied accountancy for two years at the University of Wales Cardiff.
