Am I Eligible for the Motability Scheme?

The Motability Scheme can benefit those who receive a government-funded mobility allowance.  If you have 12 months’ payments remaining for the following social security benefits, you should be eligible:

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
  • Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment.

There’s no upper age limit, so there’s no need to worry about being too old to apply. Indeed, a third of those who already enjoy the benefits of Motability are over 65. If you have a disabled child over the age of three, the scheme enables you to claim on their behalf.

Motability customers who choose not to drive themselves often designate drivers, including friends, carers or family, so there’s no reason not to benefit from this fantastic opportunity – even if you don’t drive.

To see if you’re eligible for the Motability Scheme you can visit the Department of Work and Pensions’ website or the Veterans UK website. Alternatively, you can give us a call to speak to one of our friendly Motability advisers.
