We are always looking to recruit new talent within our Ludlow and Aberystwyth sites, to maintain the overall quality of our service offerings. We recruit staff across all of our departments, including the reception, vehicle showroom, and service centres.
All new starters are provided with comprehensive training, to make sure they fit right in with the Shukers team and deliver excellent customer service.
Our latest new starters include Christian Brown, George Selley, Jaymie-Leigh Smith, and Poppy Archer.
Christian Brown, at 17 years old, joins us as our newest Apprentice Sales Reception Host, based in Shukers Land Rover Aberystwyth.
His dedication to his apprenticeship and Shukers is clear from the get-go, as he travels three hours a day to and from work, while still maintaining a professional and enthusiastic attitude. He fits right in with the Shukers team and likes how every day is different from the next.
He said, “I’m really enjoying the role, being able to drive the different vehicles and see what they’re like to drive. I’m also enjoying working with the Hyundai brand too and love the KONA i30 N”.
We asked him what his favourite Land Rover model is, and he said “It’s a tough one as they’re all so nice, but I love the Range Rover Velar. It looks amazing”.
Christian is a friendly face to customers from the moment they enter the showroom, offering refreshments, answering, and managing the telephone system, and always delivering excellent service.
Next up is George Selley, our Apprentice Technician at Shukers Land Rover in Ludlow.
George’s role includes learning and supporting with service requirements on-site, adhering to Land Rover guidelines to perform high-quality service checks and maintenance tasks. He is also learning to repair and replace faulty vehicle parts, whilst interacting with the service receptionists to update customers.
We asked him how he’s finding his new role, and he said, “I love it, it’s challenging but rewarding and I have the opportunity to progress and learn every day”. When asked about his favourite part of the role, he said he enjoys getting to work on his favourite Land Rover model, the new Land Rover Defender, because “they’re amazing vehicles”. We couldn’t agree with you more on that one George!
Jaymie-Leigh is our new Reception Host and Driver, based in Land Rover Ludlow.
Jaymie-Leigh is responsible for picking up and delivering Land Rover vehicles to customers across the UK. She has already delivered vehicles all around the UK from London, to Scotland. Her previous experience includes over 10 years driving public service vehicles, and she says, “the bigger the vehicle the better!”.
As a Reception Host, she also manages and records incoming telephone calls, whilst providing a high-quality service to all Shukers customers.
Her favourite Land Rover is the Defender, because “it has so much character, it’s a great looking car and so recognisable”.
Poppy is based in our service centre in Land Rover Ludlow, and joins the service department as a Service Advisor, which entails making phone calls, booking customer’s cars in for services and handling MOT requests. Poppy interacts directly with our customers on a daily basis, acting as the go-between for service technicians and customers.
Poppy has over three years’ previous experience working within a car dealership and says her favourite part about her role at Shukers is working with her colleagues. She says, “I’ve felt right at home with my colleagues at Shukers from the start. I’ve always grown up around Land Rover’s living on a farm, so this feels like the perfect role for me”.
When asked what her favourite Land Rover model was, she said “The Defender has got to be my favourite vehicle, I’ve always grown up with my parents owning Land Rovers, but the Defender really sticks out”.
All of our new starters are settling extremely well in their new roles, and we are excited to see their career development.
